A sophisticated look at a bargain price,
These fans immitate some of the much more expensive contemporary designs on the market and really do quite a nice job (at least in this colour). The look is very clean and minimalist, and indeed really quite practical as far as cleaning and care are concerned. The metal items are nicely finished and the blades appear to have been painted to a reasonable standard. I am not too fond of the manufacturer’s name being stamped on the body of the fan but I positioned the fan so it was not readily visible so no biggie. Installation was very straightforward with no more assembly required than for fans of a similar design and I hit absolute no snags at all during assembly and hanging. A nice touch is that Monte Carlo provides chains and metal pulls with the fan (take note Hunter!). In operation, the fan is nice and quiet but the three fan speeds do appear to be slightly slower than an equivalent 52″ Hunter fan I have in the house. I would also venture to say that this fan is slower than most equivalent fans from other manufacturers as well. I tested it and yes, high speed on this fan is only marginally faster than medium on my equivalent Hunter fan. This is not a problem for me as I don’t tend to run my fans on high speed anyway but it is worth noting. Overall, I have been pleasantly surprised by this fan (which cost about a fifth of the price of the similarly designed but far more efficient Emerson Midway Eco fans) and trust it will now provide reliable service.

|fan noise,
The fan was returned because of a loud hum from the motor.
Amazon made it very convenient to return the fan as they arranged for a
pick-up with a prepaid label.
